Being a trader is arguably one of the most demanding occupations that there is. Managing money and conducting make-or-break decisions on a regular basis can take its toll. That is why it is important that individuals in this profession are able to relax, have fun and blow off some steam during their precious time off.
There is no better destination than London for finding a variety of evening entertainment and activities to enjoy with colleagues and friends. Here are just a few suggestions of things to do on a night out in England’s capital city:
Visit a casino or enjoy a game of poker
If you are still feeling energized by a successful trading day and feel the need for a little extra bit of competition, the mental stimulation and thrill that poker offers could be just what you need. There are a number of great casinos in the city, including the very elegant Aspinall’s in Mayfair, the Hippodrome casinos in Leicester Square and the luxury Empire casino, also in Leicester Square.
Before a poker night, you can always play a few games online and get to grips with different poker position names and the rules of the game. Online casinos are convenient for quick games on the go, while land-based casinos are the perfect venue for a big night out in the city.
Play darts at The Flight Club
Flight Club is a unique social darts club with venues across London in Bloomsbury, Islington, Shoreditch and Victoria. Players can book out an Oche with their friends to play a series of challenges using darts.
These are no ordinary darts or dart boards, the boards use digital technology and the world’s first darts vision system to make the game more interactive. Flight Club is not just for experienced darts players, people of all abilities can enjoy the games on offer.
While the competitiveness of darts is perfect for traders, players can also relax and treat themselves to food and a few drinks either during the game or in the bar area afterwards. You can book food and drink packages with pizza, canapes and wine or beer to share with your group, selections include vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.
Rent a private space at Lucky Voice for Karaoke
Another high energy activity that you can enjoy with friends and colleagues in the capital is karaoke at Lucky Voice in Islington or Soho. This is not the type of karaoke you would usually expect, rather than singing on a stage, groups can book their own private room for up to 30 people.
During a private two hour session, your group can sing their hearts out using a high tech karaoke machine with over 10,000 songs to choose from. Music choices include everything from old school classics to new chart hits.
If you fancy a drink then all you need to do is hit the ‘Thirsty’ button and your order will be taken. There is an extensive cocktail menu to try out and snacks including pizza for those who are a little peckish after belting out a few tunes.
If you and your team are out for a special celebration, you can also book in for a bottomless brunch or cocktail masterclass. Lucky Voice is the ideal place for having some light hearted fun after a stressful week of work.
Challenge yourself with an escape room
Over at Royal Victoria Docks is Europe’s largest immersive live escape game experience, Locked In the Room, where players must solve puzzles and figure out clues in order to escape. Participants have one hour to crack it and up to 78 players can go head to head at any one time.
Escape rooms have become an increasingly popular activity in recent years and have popped up in every major city in the country, however the ExCeL London venue is unique because of its size and participant numbers.
Players can choose between a selection of rooms to escape from. There is “Timelock”, a room themed around a time traveller who is kidnapped by a rival, where players must find out where the time traveller is before the study's self-destruct protocol is activated.
There is also the “Parralax” room that is an underground bunker. Players are cast as a team of detectives that must solve a similar kidnapping case. This room is said to be slightly more challenging than Timelock.
This experience is perfect for traders as it forces you to turn off your phone and live in the moment for a while. There are a number of great bars and restaurants nearby if you and your team make a whole evening out of it and celebrate your great escape.
Enjoy some throwback fun at Ballie Ballerson
Let your hair down and act like a big kid for a while at Ballie Ballerson in Shoreditch. This is a famous cocktail bar with giant ball pits for you to jump around in.
The venue has a number of themed nights with special drinks menus and awesome playlists. On Throwback Thursdays, visitors can enjoy nostalgia-inducing cocktails and classic tunes.
For special occasions, there are VIP tables, special packages and bottomless brunches to indulge in. The venue’s vibrant decor and funky lighting makes it extremely insta-worthy and perfect for team nights out.
From competing at poker and darts to jumping around in ball pits and solving escape room puzzles, there are a huge amount of evening activities to be enjoyed in London. Making time to have fun and socialise is essential for maintaining your wellbeing and keeping you energized.
